Day of Mindfulness Meditation

 

July 15th

Facilitated by Ben Tipton

We will be spending the day deepening practice with sitting, walking, and sharing the dharma. This practice will be in the tradition of Insight and focusing on the Sattipattana Sutra (The Foundations of Mindfulness).  

Lunch will be harvested directly from the farm and prepared by the group.

Participants are welcome to camp the night before and/or after. 

Noble silence will be observed.

This offering is open to everyone. No experience is necessary. Limited to 15 participants.

The fee for the day is determined by you and what you are able and willing to pay.

Join us this summer to celebrate local food! Enjoy farm dinners prepared from our harvest, live music, and community on our hillside farm. Below is the line up for this summer. Ticket sales open on June 1st. All menus are subject to change.

July 30

Brick Hearth Oven Pizza Night with Haven Hearth and Homestead

Ben will once again be tossing pizzas into our brick hearth oven for a family friendly farm dinner in the orchard! The addition this year is Suzanne Podhaizer from Haven Hearth and Homestead, who will be putting together all of the lovely creations that will top the pizzas, fill the side bowls, and offer you something sweet at the end! 

 

Menu

 

   Vegetable Pizzas: 

  • Tomato & eggplant sauce; caramelized alliums; summer squash; Vermont Creamery goat cheese 

  • Sesame oil; arugula; bunching onions; mushrooms or eggplant; Gochugaru flakes

  • Pesto; arugula; mushrooms or eggplant; bunching onion; Jasper Hill Chef Shred

 

    Meat Pizzas:

  • Pesto; caramelized alliums; roasted peppers; roasted chicken; Vermont Creamery goat cheese

  • Sesame oil; wilted greens; bunching onion; braised pork; Gochugaru flakes OR olive oil; caramelized alliums; Bosc pear; braised pork; Jasper Hill Bayley Hazen

  • Tomato & eggplant sauce; caramelized alliums; roasted peppers; veal meatballs; Jasper Hill Chef Shred

 

    Side Dishes:

  • Lettuce; edible flowers, herbs, cranberry & red onion vinaigrette

  • Slaw with roasted cherry tomatoes and creamy cilantro, roasted garlic & tomatillo dressing

  • Hominy, pinto beans, toasted pumpkin seeds, sumac & ramp oil

  • Roasted beets & carrots, maple Gastrique, walnuts, goat cheese

 

    Dessert

  • Maple Whoopee Pies with fruit jam and cream cheese filling

 

August 6

Local Chef Tim Loomis and Jasper Hill Farm

Local Chef Tim Loomis, born and raised here in the NEK, has returned to the area and is delighting us with his food creations. For this farm dinner, Tim will be highlighting our vegetables, Jasper Hill cheeses, and Sunday Bell Farm pork.

    Appetizer

  • Fried eggplant with cherry tomatoes.

 

    Starters

  • Roasted beets and carrots

  • Pickled cucumbers, carrots, beans & onions with preserved lemon, arugula and olive oil

  • Focaccia & roasted garlic spread

 

    Main Dish

  • Kentucky fried oyster mushrooms

  • Red wine and herb pork sausage with caramelized onions & cabbage

  • Kale-ard greens

  • Roasted potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes, peppers & chard

  • IPA mustard and fruit Mostarda

 

    Dessert

  • Fried cornmeal fritter, fruit & ice cream

Local legend Chris Willy is putting together a vegetarian dinner that promises to please the senses. If you have never had the chance to indulge in Chris’s creativity and cooking prowess, don’t miss this one!
